I think we’ve just found one of the best family Halloween experiences in Cheshire for children and their grown-ups. Halloweenville isn’t your typical Halloween trail. Hidden around the lakes and woodland at Partridge Lakes in Warrington, it feels as though you’ve stepped straight inside a Halloween storybook. There are characters to meet, a story to follow, incredible sets, atmospheric lighting, music and little surprises around every corner. And the best part if you have younger children? It’s spooky, but not scary. There are no jump scares, and although there are live characters along the trail, the whole experience has been designed with families in mind. We visited as a family and genuinely thought it was amazing. This was probably the biggest thing we wanted to know before visiting. If you’ve got younger children who love Halloween but aren’t quite ready for frightening scare attractions, Halloweenville sits in a really nice middle ground. It feels properly Halloween-y without trying to terrify anyone. There are skeletons, witches, spooky sets, darker areas and live characters, but there are no jump scares . For us, it was enough to feel exciting without spending the entire trail carrying a terrified four-year-old. Little Northerners Tip: Every child is different. The darker evening setting, characters and Halloween props could still feel spooky to particularly sensitive children, so choose an earlier slot or sensory session if you think that would work better for your family.
